Deli Manager candidates must have 3 to 5 years’ experience as a Deli Manager or Assistant Deli Manager in a high-volume Supermarket. Must be able to lead a diverse workforce to consistently deliver sales and profit goals. Candidate should work with a sense of urgency to maintain a clean, fresh, full department with the very best customer service.

A. Greet customers, smiling and making eye contact. Assist customers with questions, in prompt, friendly, courteous manner, referring them to others when necessary.
B. Assist other departments as appropriate to ensure the highest possible store operations and customer service.
C. Handle unplanned situations calmly, smoothly and in alignment with pre-established policies.
D. Model exceptional customer service skills and communicate expectations to staff.
E. Provide staff with the tools required to ensure the highest level of service possible to our shoppers.
F. Provide product information and educational materials to customers and staff.

A. Manage weekly / monthly spend to the budget.

B. Negotiate with suppliers for favorable prices, terms, quality and delivery.
C. Review invoices for accuracy, price changes, and product additions.
D. Get credits from suppliers when applicable.
E. Coordinate periodic price surveys of identified competitors.
F. Price product to achieve margin and sales goals while maintaining a competitive image.
G. Ensure current prices are in POS and flipcharts are kept up to date.

A. Plan and build produce displays. Ensure seasonal changes and feeling of abundance.
B. Merchandise department to maximize presentation while minimizing exposure of all products.
C. Ensure appropriate signage at all times.

D. Ensure quality and freshness is maintained at the highest level.

A. Maintain and enforce safe working conditions.
B. Ensure that department is clean, orderly and meets health department standards.
C. Maintain department equipment in working order. Advise Store Manager of equipment problems or needs.
D. Maintain current department forms (for training, ordering, scheduling, etc.) as needed.
E. Plan and maintain attractive displays and proper signage.
F. Conduct periodic thorough cleaning of displays and equipment.

A. Hire qualified applicants following established policy.
B. Ensure on-the-job training.
C. Take disciplinary action as needed following established policy.
D. Ensure staff hours are scheduled within payroll allocation.
E. Develop and motivate employees. Model a superior and professional work ethic.
F. Maintain communication with produce department staff through regular meetings and correspondence.

A. Perform other tasks assigned by Store Manager.
B. Attend Management Team meetings.

-Retail produce experience, including buying
-Supervisory experience-hiring, training, evaluating and directing
-Good communication and listening skills
-Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment
-Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment
-Ability to lift 40lbs repeatedly during shift
-Ability to work in a cold and damp environment
-Regular predictable attendance
-Ability to develop and implement budgets and to adhere to cost and margin requirements
-Ability to plan, develop and implement efficient and productive systems
